SEMC holds Multi-state Summit January 9
Southeast Montessori Collective board members conducted research on state regulations across the 12-state region and presented a report to attendees of the Summit held January 9, 2019. Topics included respective departments of early childhood education as well as departments of education, highlights of various Montessori state organizations' initiatives, federal mandates and statistics of public, charter, private and accredited Montessori schools across the region. From facilitator and SEMC board member Christine Lowry, "We thank all of those who attended and contributed their issues of concern in their states. To those of you who were unable to attend this time, please feel free to connect with SEMC with your questions about your state, and how you and your school can benefit from SEMC support. (This a volunteer effort with no cost to you or your state organization).
The goal of our research across the region was determining the common obstacles to our Montessori community, and to find precedents that could support advocacy efforts. We will continue to gather information and data and are looking for solutions that could be of benefit for our southeast community. Take a look at the "role of SEMC" page of the presentation and let us know how we can work together with one voice!"
