RALEIGH, NC -November 25, 2018- The NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS)
was charged by Governor Roy Cooper through Executive Order No. 49 to spearhead the development
of a statewide early childhood plan, with support of several departments across the state.

The NC Early Childhood Action Plan, which includes goals for early learning programs, early childhood
development, reading and more, has been drafted and is open to public comment. The Southeast
Montessori Collective board encourages Montessori educators and advocates to read the draft and to
comment in one or both ways listed below.
